Trailer: Les Miserables - Dec 14
Directed by Tom Hooper, starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, and Aaron Tveit.
This trailer does an excellent job of conveying at once intimacy and grand scale. On that level, it’s impressive what Hooper has been able to pull off with so little time and footage....

Trailer: The Great Gatsby - Dec 25th
Directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Tobey Maguire, Amitabh Bachchan, and Isla Fisher.
This might not be the Gatsby you remember from high school english class, but it’s surely the Baz Luhrmann you’ll remember from Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet. This spot is equally as stylized as those and...
Your Stories of Being Sick Inside the U.S. Health... →
To get a feeling for what being sick in America is really like, and to help us understand the findings of our poll with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health, NPR did a call-out on Facebook. We asked people to share their experiences of the health care system, and within 24 hours, we were flooded with close to 1,000 responses.

Inspired by the-healthy-anglophile and her BBC workout games (check them out, they’re awesome) I made a slightly more lengthy one for Community. It has less reps and excercises, but more things that trigger you to excercise. I just found a bunch of drinking games and modified them a bit….
Sepinwal: Can Community work without Dan Harmon? |... →
popculturebrain:
The more I read about this, the more upset I get.
“Community” under Port and Guarascio may turn out to be a proficient sitcom (and could, in Sony’s wildest dreams, run for several more years the way that “West Wing” and “NYPD Blue” did without their original voices), but it won’t be… that. And while Harmon’s creative lunacy didn’t help “Community” find a larger audience, it...

This means it’s been a whole year that I’ve pretty much been sitting around being a worthless bum. I haven’t accomplished any of the things I hoped I could, like learning Hindi, or learning to play guitar, or working somewhere that’s not owned by my parents o_0
I should probably be blaming my own lazy self, but maybe I’ll just blame tumblr for being so darn addictive...
'Losing Yourself' In A Fictional Character Can... →
likelyhealthy:
When you “lose yourself” inside the world of a fictional character while reading a story, you may actually end up changing your own behavior and thoughts to match that of the character, a new study suggests.
Fascinating. Good storytelling can motivate behavior change. Click the link to read more.
I’m not so sure I needed a study to tell me this :-P
I’m glad to...

just finished watching The Unusuals...
for those who don’t know, it was a cop show on ABC that got cancelled after 10 episodes. I’m honestly not usually one for cop shows— I’ll admit I mostly watched this for Jeremy Renner—but it was actually a pretty good show! It’s one of those that’s very funny but also serious and dramatic when it needed to be. The whole cast and characters were all really...

popculturebrain:
By the way, this happened. The Sing Off’s cancellation is by no means surprising (the ratings were pitiful), but I’m still sad to see it go. At least we had 3 years there where there was nationally televised, prime time contemporary acappella singing. There’s no way I would have believed that to be possible when I first started following the genre in 2001.

They put Community on Friday night after Whitney.
Really they should have put it as a mid-season replacement for 30 Rock.
In the Friday night death slot….that’s always good :-/
