Aside from watching Disney stuff, you can probably guess the contents of this blog from the title. I love movies and television in general, so I mostly post stuff from those. I also occassionally write reviews or "musings" (unstructured thought-dumps) on movies i watch

this line makes me mad because then the whole premise of MU is out the window if hey already knew each other and had a relationship
I re-watched Monsters Inc the other day and I thought the same thing…
The director did answer this question already though http://www.slashfilm.com/monsters-university-director-explains-the-continuity-problem-in-mike-and-sullys-backstory/ Whether or not that’s a good answer is entirely up to the viewer.
I guess that works. Either way I’m excited, although I’m not sure if I’ll be able to see MU in theaters

Hahaha, I thought it was funny but not nearly as good as I thought it was going to be. Quick question, what do you think movies such as 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and similar films of this ilk?
MoviePass: New Character Details Revealed For ‘Star Wars: Episode 7’
- screenrant: A month ago the first major casting rumor for a new character – one who would be introduced in Episode VII - began making the rounds, thanks to claims that Abrams may reunite with actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the film. The latter worked with Abrams before on Mission: Impossible III, so that doesn’t at all seem like a far-fetched idea, with regard to Meyers playing, say, a Jedi in the film.
Bleeding Cool has posted the following character breakdown for Episode VII, which is reported to have begun open casting today in the U.K. (where filming will take place). The site is emphasizing that the characters are “not necessarily to be billed in the order below,” and stressing that the site has “100% confirmed” that the following is accurate. (… But, as always, best to take all this with a healthy grain of salt for the time being.)
- Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.
- Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.
- A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.
- Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.
- A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.
- Forty something male, fit, military type.
- Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

Trailer: ‘The Lego Movie’ - Feb 7
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.
My thoughts right now are somewhere in between “What the hell did I just watch?” and “Give this to me now”
i’m looking forward to this for the sake of looking forward to it but i have no expectations. in fact, you giving it a 5/10 doesn’t surprise me. i had been debating whether to catch it at the movies or wait for dvd.i think i just made up my mind
(…hold your breath and count to ten)

My brother came to visit this weekend. I was dying to see Man of Steel but somehow he guilt-tripped me into seeing this instead. I remember seeing the trailer for it on April Fool’s Day, and after realizing it wasn’t an elaborate prank, I thought to myself, “This is either going to be hilarious or just really dumb…”
Unfortunately, it was the latter. It has its moments, but for the most part I thought it was just really stupid. I liked the bits of self-referential humor and some other stuff (the actors making fun of each others’ bad movies, the Pineapple Express 2, pretty much every scene of Emma Watson’s), but it felt like those were all few and far between, and the majority of the jokes were just gross-out humor for the sake of it. (Did we really need a whole scene of Danny McBride yelling that he’s going to jizz on things? Actually just in general this guy annoyed me more than anything)
And even if we ignore that the humor just didn’t work for me (for the most part), this movie also had hardly any story to it. It felt like a viral video that had been stretched out into a full movie. After the “earthquake” happens and the main cast get stranded in James Franco’s house, things just got really repetitive plot-wise. It was like, “The guys argue, there’s an interruption to their arguing, repeat until finale.”
Overall…I’d say I’m totally puzzled by the great reception this has gotten, but maybe it’s just a sign of how disappointing this summer movie season has been. Then again, my brother seemed to think it was the funniest thing ever and $20 well spent, so maybe the problem is that I’m not a 19 year old guy. 5/10

John Barry was originally hired to score The Incredibles in his James Bond-style, but left the project after recording only a few demo themes; some were used for theater trailers.
Michael Kamen was set to score but died in the middle of scoring.
To record the Henry Mancini- and John Barry-inspired jazz-orchestra score, composer Michael Giacchino eschewed modern digital multi-track recording and returned to the analog recording methods used for jazz-orchestra recordings in the 1960s. “We were just like, ‘Forget that, let’s throw everyone in the room, let’s pretend we only have three microphones, and let’s get it right. Let’s just do it.’”
